What is thermal transfer ribbon

Thermal transfer ribbons are also called hot stamping ribbons, or ribbons for short.
Thermal transfer ribbons are printer consumables, which are polyester or other high-density films coated on one side with wax-based, resin-based, or mixed inks. Apply lubricant to the side without the ink to prevent wear and damage of the print head. The shaft core of the carbon tape is usually made of paper and plastic. The main requirements are that it cannot be deformed and cannot slide during printing. Common colors are wax-based, wax tree-based, and resin-based. At present, in our country, the common ribbons used are date coding ribbons, infusion bag ribbons, special resin ribbons for washing cloth, ribbons for cables, barcode ribbons, wax-based ribbons, mixed-based ribbons, resins Base-ribbon and other models. Different materials and varieties of ribbons/carbon ribbons have different applications for printing materials and printers. In ribbon/carbon ribbon thermal transfer technology, the performance of the printer is the first priority.
Basic composition
a) Thin and strong polyester or other high-density material tape base;
b) The undercoating on the front side of the tape base to ensure uniform ink color and complete transfer of ink color during printing;
c) Wax or resin-based ink layer;
d) The outer coating on the ink layer to protect the ink color and enhance the adhesion to the printed material during printing;
e) The back coating of the tape base prevents static electricity, soaks heat and reduces friction to protect the print head.
